Manufacturing increases dramatically

Manufacturing activity in November reached some of the highest levels in the UK since 1994.  The accelerated numbers were unexpected and the coalition government is nearly breaking its arm reaching around for a pat on the back.

The figures were up in October as well and those in government and manufacturing are hoping to carry the increase into 2011, although experts warn probably not that far.  It is believed that if the increase is not seasonal, suppliers ordering more manufactured goods because of Christmas, then it will still be struck a deathblow by the VAT hike in January 2011.

Experts say that it is certainly good to see manufacturing get a boost, but the austerity measures coming to the public and private sector early next year are sure to be a killer to consumer confidence.
